The constituent meeting of the general parents' council of the Rodgau daycare centres took place this year in the city council meeting room of the town hall. As in the previous year, Janina Kratz, Kita 18, was elected Chairwoman for the 2025/26 kindergarten year. Laura Roloff, Kita 18, is the new deputy chairwoman and Sarah May, Kita 3, is the new secretary. First City Councillor Janika Martin gave a comprehensive explanation of the current development of the daycare centre landscape in Rodgau at the meeting. She looked at the construction of the new Kita 20/Quartierszentrum in Nieder-Roden and the change of sponsor at the Catholic Church. The space situation this year is pleasing: there is only a small waiting list despite the increasing number of children with special needs. Close coordination takes place to ensure that parents' childcare needs are well coordinated with the planning and organisation of staff deployment in the respective daycare centre. This is to prevent parents from booking large childcare models "for safety reasons" without needing them and thus tying up staff. Overall, staffing levels in the city's daycare centres are good across the board. The standard according to the Good Daycare Centre Act, i.e. 100% for regular operations, 20% management leave, 15% preparation time and 22% for downtime such as training or illness, is met. At present, only one group in one centre cannot be filled due to staff shortages. Despite this favourable situation, there are waves of illness and absences, which can also lead to disruptions. In addition to the parents' council representatives, the meeting was attended by First City Councillor Janika Martin, Sandra Nassauer and Julia Spahn from the Children and Family Department as well as Florian Büttner, Head of Daycare Centre 15, who represented the municipal facility managers this year.
