Burial

Stadtwerke Rodgau is responsible for ensuring a dignified funeral in cooperation with the mostly local funeral parlours. In addition to the funeral halls, which are available at all cemeteries, there is also a farewell room at the Jügesheim forest cemetery.

Types of burial

The task of the cemetery administration is to take your individual needs into account. That is why we would like to offer you a wide range of burial options.

Definition of term:

  • Elective grave = burial site for one or more person(s), choice of location possible
  • Row grave = grave site for a single person only, allocation in order, choice of place not possible
  • Resting period = period of time during which no further burials may take place in the grave. The grave is only reallocated after the resting period has expired. The resting period varies between 20 and 30 years depending on the type of grave
  • Right of use = right and obligation to dispose of a grave
  • Beneficial owner = person(s) exercising the right to a burial place

  • Row gravesites

They are occupied in sequence and left for the duration of the resting period of urn burials or coffin burials. It is not possible to reacquire or extend the right to use a row grave. Row gravesites are always single-family graves.

The headstone can be selected according to your own wishes, similar to conventional row and elective graves, and installed by an expert stonemason. • Muslim burial ground

Insert picture of the Muslim burial ground

There is a Muslim burial ground in the north-western area of the forest cemetery in Jügesheim. The graves are located in an area where burials have never taken place before. They are also orientated towards Mecca, as prescribed in Islam. This is because Muslims always bury their deceased in such a way that they lie on the right side of their body and face their holiest city. There is also a ceremonial area with a table and stone seats on the burial ground. The table, an important part of the Muslim burial ceremony, is orientated so that the body can be laid out on it in the direction of prayer. A washroom is also available in the cemetery building of the Jügesheim forest cemetery.

  • Garden of the Star Children

A stone with the inscription Sternenkinder. Small angel sculptures can be seen on the upper edge.

The children's burial ground is a combination of a communal burial ground for premature and stillborn children and an area for individual graves and lawn graves for children up to the age of five. Local undertakers and clergy from the various religions were involved in the planning. The place where grieving parents can find solace has been created like a small garden - the "Garden of Star Children". It is embedded in a beautiful stand of old Scots pine trees. The location is bright and friendly.

Design, care, maintenance and other management

    • Takeover by the cemetery administration at the Garden of the Star Children

  • Tree graves

Tree burial sites are urn burial sites where, like conventional urn graves, a right of use is granted for 20 years. The guiding principle of natural tree burial is that the ashes of the deceased reach the roots of the tree. The idea of the ashes being absorbed by the tree and thus becoming part of the life cycle again is comforting for many people. For all tree burials, only urn burials are possible as elective graves and can also be purchased in several places.

The bereaved have the option of having a name plaque inscribed with the deceased's life and death dates in the spaces provided. Conventional grave planting in the form of flower beds or the placement of vases or other grave decorations should be avoided in order to do justice to the basic idea of natural burial.
