Recycling centre

The recycling centre offers residents of Rodgau the opportunity to drop off recyclable materials free of charge. It is operated to recover recyclable materials from waste streams by type and return them to the recycling cycle. In some cases, this generates revenue (e.g. from scrap metal), which is used to fund the waste management budget and thus helps to keep fees lower. Since 1 July, a fee has been charged for the disposal of certain new types of waste.

  • Which recyclables can be handed in?


    • flat glass (there are containers for used glass in front of the recycling centre)
    • Used clothes and textiles
    • Used cooking oil (can only be disposed of in plastic bottles/containers with a maximum capacity of 3 litres each, no glass bottles)
    • Glass blocks (max. 15 pieces)
    • Waste paper and cardboard (max. 0.25 m³ per week)
    • Batteries & rechargeable batteries (car batteries max. 1 piece, no deposit return)
    • Building rubble (untreated/ max. 100 litres per week/ no plasterboard/ Fermacell boards, Ytong bricks)
    • Electronic waste (small appliances and parts)
    • Foils (not contaminated)
    • CDs (without cover, no records or cassettes of any kind)
    • Energy-saving lamps and fluorescent tubes
    • Mobile phones
    • Cables
    • Cork
    • Packaging materials from the Dual System (Der Grüne Punkt)
    • Packaging polystyrene (white/ not contaminated)
    • Empty toner cartridges / printer cartridges
    • Plastic products (only buckets, tubs, household tubs, bowls, folding baskets, garden furniture, watering cans, rain barrels)
    • Nappies (in sealed bags, no chargeable nappy waste bags required)

    • Non-ferrous and ferrous metals, aluminium (also larger parts)
    • Large household appliances and refrigerators*
    • Televisions and computer monitors*
    • Wood (uncontaminated and dismantled furniture interior wood) - no wooden objects from outdoor areas (e.g. garden furniture, hunting fences, decking boards, doors and window frames, roof beams and construction timber)

  • Under what conditions may deliveries be made?

    • Only the specified recyclables are accepted in normal household quantities
    • From 2026, the rodgaucard or an identity card must be held ready as access authorisation for deliveries
    • The recycling centre may only be used by Rodgau citizens
    • The recyclables delivered must be pre-sorted according to fractions (types)
    • For insurance reasons, the operating personnel may not assist in unloading the recyclables
    • Please follow the instructions of the recycling centre staff

  • Which new types of waste can be handed in at the recycling centre for a fee?

    An expanded waste disposal service has been in place since 1 July 2026.

    The following new types of waste can be disposed of for a fee during the usual opening hours:

    The maximum quantity accepted per delivery must not be exceeded. Any excess quantities will not be accepted.

  • How can I dispose of waste categories that incur a charge? What do I need to do this?

    To dispose of chargeable waste categories, you must have a personally registered Rodgaucard with a valid residual waste bin number linked to it.

  • How are the charges for waste collection calculated, and how do I pay?

    The charges apply per billing unit or part thereof and must generally be paid by EC or credit card upon delivery . Cash payments are not accepted.

  • Can Rodgaucard points be earned or redeemed for waste categories that are subject to a charge?

    No. The rodgaucard cannot be used to collect and redeem points at the recycling centre and the composting facility.
