A detached house usually has one main water meter Q3 m³/2.5/DN20.

Explanations of the designations:

  • What does Q3 mean?

The continuous flow rate or nominal flow rate indicates how many m³ (cubic metres) of water can flow through a water meter per hour during normal operation. On newer water meters, the value is given as the continuous flow rate (Q3). Older water meters still show the nominal flow rate (Qn).

  • What does DN mean?

The nominal diameter DN (French: Diamètre Nominal), often also referred to as the nominal diameter, is the approximate inner diameter of a pipe, hose or fitting. The dimensions of the associated connections of a fitting, such as flanges and sockets, are also determined by the nominal diameter. Fittings, pipes and valves with the same nominal diameter are compatible.

Creative contribution

The creation contribution is the contribution paid by the property owners for a new connection or connection to the public water supply. This payment serves to cover the costs for the construction and expansion of the supply systems.

Investment area

The assessment area is calculated by multiplying the property area by the utilisation factor in accordance with the water supply statutes (§§ 15 to 18).
