Water supply
Due to its high quality, we can drink tap water in Rodgau without hesitation. Comprehensive general information can be found in our water brochure.
Water supply
In order to keep the quality of the drinking water consistently high, the municipal utilities take on the following tasks:
- Regular quality controls
- Installation, maintenance and repair work on the pipe network
- Construction and repair of house connections
- Extension of pipework in residential areas.
- Replacement of old or damaged pipes
- Cleaning the pipe network in the connected districts
- Basic rinsing in spring and autumn
Responsibility
Public utilities
The area of responsibility of the municipal utilities includes the local supply and house connection pipes up to the water meters in the districts of Dudenhofen, Jügesheim, Hainhausen and Weiskirchen. The specialist department is happy to help with the construction or maintenance of drinking water house connections.
Owner
Everything behind the water meter is part of the consumption system and is therefore the responsibility of the owner. If you require information and advice on this, please contact your guild-authorised plumber.
ATTENTION: Work on the water meters or on the pipework upstream of the water meters may only be carried out by the municipal utilities or a plumbing company authorised by us.
Water extraction
Stadtwerke Rodgau obtains its drinking water from the Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Stadt und Kreis Offenbach (ZWO). The supply area of Stadtwerke Rodgau is limited to the districts of Weiskirchen, Hainhausen, Jügesheim and Dudenhofen. Nieder-Roden is supplied by Zweckverband Gruppenwasserwerk Dieburg (ZVG).
How does the water extraction process work in detail?
The water is extracted from the "Hanau-Seligenstädter-Senke". This is a porous aquifer and consists of gravel and sand. The raw water is physically treated in the ZWO waterworks.
As the water trickles through cascades, it mixes with air and excess carbon dioxide, iron and manganese "precipitate". In downstream filters, the water seeps through semi-fired dolomitic filter material in order to establish the lime-carbonic acid balance and to filter out the metal compounds.
The drinking water flows from the filters into the water storage tanks. From there, the drinking water is fed into the pipeline network at a pressure of around six bar using speed-controlled pumps.
The drinking water flows through the Stadtwerke Rodgau water network to local households in the districts of Weiskirchen, Hainhausen, Jügesheim and Dudenhofen via the transfer points.
Water quality
The drinking water supplied by Stadtwerke Rodgau and pumped by Zweckverband Wasserversorgung Stadt und Kreis Offenbach is regularly analysed for quality in accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance. Constant checks ensure that the legal requirements are met.
