"Sound of Fire" is fire and defence music in the open air

The Rodgau Fire Brigade Music is proud and delighted that the Music Committee of the Hesse State Fire Brigade Association has chosen Rodgau as the venue for the State Meeting of Fire Brigade Music. The great musical spectacle will take place on Thursday, 30 May, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the fairground at Feuerwehr-Süd, Hainburgstraße 60. A total of 13 orchestras from Hesse will perform under the title "Sound of Fire". The state meeting of fire brigade music will be framed by the "Day of the Fire Brigade", on which the Nieder-Roden and Dudenhofen fire brigade associations will provide refreshments to accompany the music. Two stages on the festival site will provide space for the music groups, who will take turns to provide entertainment from 12 noon to 6 p.m. without a break. The fire brigade musicians cover the entire musical spectrum from marches, polkas and waltzes to modern pop, rock and film music. Even the route to the festival site is special: the groups parade through Nieder-Roden and Dudenhofen, inviting everyone to come along and join in the celebrations. People are welcome to cheer on the passing and playing groups in the streets. "Fire brigade music in Hesse is an important and indispensable part of our organisation. It is a lively and varied ambassador for our fire services and provides a special setting at a high musical level for numerous events, not only in our organisation. The "Sound of Fire" event in Rodgau will impressively showcase the large repertoire and diversity of Hessian fire service music. We are looking forward to a large and impressive presentation and musical highlights of numerous music groups and bands of our fire brigades and at the same time a good advertisement for fire brigade music for young and old. At the same time, we hope to attract many interested applicants for our music groups, orchestras, bands and platoons," says Norbert Fischer, President of the Hesse State Fire Brigade Association. In his role as festival president, he is delighted about the participation of the Dreieich-Götzenhain/Offenthal fire brigade marching band, the Schaafheim-Altheim fire brigade marching band, the Messel fire brigade marching band, the Gemünden/Wohra fire brigade marching band, the Bachrain maching band, the Lorsch fire brigade marching band, the marching band of the Hain-Gründau fire brigade, the marching band of the Mümling-Grumbach fire brigade, the marching band of the Erbach-Michelstadt fire brigade, the marching band of the Breuberg-Sandbach fire brigade, the brass band of the Marburg fire brigade, the marching band of the Seeheim fire brigade and, of course, the fire brigade band of the Rodgau fire brigade. On site, Harald Bayer had his hands full with the organisation. The "Sound of Fire" has been on the agenda of the Friends of the Fire Brigade Band and the South Fire Brigade Festival Committee since August 2023. The desire for a musical, friendly exchange was great among the Hessian fire brigade bands. This should also be combined with an informal get-together. Harald Bayer accepted the assignment and "defined the framework of the festival according to our possibilities" and started planning: concerts on the festival site, star marches, advertising for the festival, organisation of the catering and the set-up and dismantling. The Rodgau "chief organiser" made the necessary arrangements with IGEMOS, the city's public order office and communications department. He took care of sponsors, letters of invitation, motivated teams of helpers, coordinated decisions of the festival committee together with regional baton leader Alexander Eckhardt and the performances of the bands. Bayer answered questions about copyrights, Gema, car parks, types of music and, yes, even about offering vegetarian dishes on the menu. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is involved on 30 May and in the run-up to the event, and especially the association, which is financing the buses for the bands and the sheet music for the final concert. This will be a real highlight and the crowning finale of the day: All participating fire brigade music groups will perform with over 250 musicians under the direction of state baton leader Alexander Eckhardt. The guests can justifiably claim to have experienced the largest orchestra that Rodgau has ever seen on this fantastic music day in May.
