Volunteer exchange seeks helpers

Fancy a new task? The Hildegard-von-Bingen Senior Citizens' Centre, a modern care facility in Hainhausen, is looking for volunteers who enjoy giving the residents regular variety and enjoyable moments. The tasks include accompanying and organising various group and individual activities. Music and exercise programmes are particularly welcome. Of course, the team is also open to your own ideas and suggestions. Desirable skills include a love of working with the elderly, patience, empathy and reliability. The outpatient hospice and palliative counselling service of the Johanniter RV Offenbach is also looking for volunteers. The Johanniter outpatient hospice and palliative counselling service has set itself the task of providing dignified and respectful support to people at the end of their lives in their familiar, home environment. The aim of the work is to improve the quality of life in the last phase of life. The hospice counsellors provide support and walk a path together. Qualified training is required to work as a volunteer hospice counsellor - this is of course offered to anyone who is interested. It is important to prepare volunteers carefully and expertly for this sensitive task. In principle, anyone can become a volunteer in outpatient hospice services if they are open to questions about the end of life, are interested in the topics of dying, death and grief and have self-reflection skills. Anyone interested can contact the volunteer exchange at kultur@rodgau.de. The exchange is staffed in person on Wednesdays from 08:30 to 18:00, as well as by telephone appointment on 06106 693-1226.
