Stefan Jaud has been working in the public sector for 40 years and has been with the town of Rodgau since 1991. The Head of Social Affairs and Education began his training with the district of Offenbach and it was clear even then that he wanted to work in the social sector. In addition to a fundamental personal interest, he was attracted by the variety. Both have remained, because even today, the specialist service not only covers the major areas of daycare centres, senior citizens and education, but also has around 400 employees. Stefan Jaud has always enjoyed working "with people", as he initially studied to become a teacher before going into administration. His professional career began in the area of "assistance for living expenses" directly in case processing, which he also initially carried out in Rodgau. Always in personal contact with the people who needed support, he got to know many, sometimes difficult, life situations. This was not always easy, but it did not diminish his commitment to getting involved in precisely this area over the years. Stefan Jaud's professional life changed completely when the "social welfare" area of work was returned to the district, his former superior left and the tasks of the former community nurses had to be transferred to a new organisation. He not only became head of the office, but also one of the two managing directors of the Rodgau social centre, which was founded jointly with Johanniter. The latter has now grown to 40 employees and here, too, it is important to keep pace with changing requirements in terms of the scope of tasks and in society. Of course, this flexibility and the focus on a needs-based service is also required in the specialised service. This has enabled projects such as Rodgau 16 plus, the education fair, youth development, new daycare centres, school social work, the municipal library, the adult education centre and work with senior citizens to emerge, develop and become established. After 40 years, Stefan Jaud says: "I have always felt comfortable at my workplace and with my colleagues. That makes it easy to remain loyal to my employer and my city.".
