Rodau Park opened: A new green meeting place for everyone

Last Friday, the town of Rodgau celebrated the official opening of the long-awaited Rodaupark under a bright blue sky and in a great atmosphere. Over 400 visitors came to discover the new green oasis in the centre of Jügesheim and to celebrate together. After an intensive construction phase and taking into account the wishes of the residents, Mayor Max Breitenbach was able to officially open the new park to the public together with Jürgen Kaiser, head of the town council, Matthias Früchel from the green department and Matthias Taggesell from the Weiss & Becker planning office. With a symbolic cutting of the red ribbon, Rodaupark, located between Altem Weg and Konrad-Kappler-Straße, was made accessible to all visitors. The opening ceremony offered a colourful programme for young and old. The band "Zweispurig" provided musical entertainment, while the city library enchanted listeners young and old with "Kamishibai" stories. The family centre's playground meeting point invited children to run around and play and the youth mobile offered an attractive range of activities for young people with table football and a basketball hoop. Food was also provided: chocolate kisses, pretzels and drinks were distributed free of charge. As a small memento of this special day, visitors received seat cushions with the slogan "My favourite place. City of Rodgau" and the popular "Rodinchen" plush bees from the municipal utility company. "The Rodaupark is a place to feel good and an asset for the whole of Jügesheim," emphasised Mayor Max Breitenbach in his speech. "I am delighted that we can finally open this beautiful park to the public. It is a place to meet and relax and will certainly quickly become the centrepiece of our district." The newly designed park offers a wide range of leisure activities over an area of 12,000 square metres. In addition to a modern playground with new equipment, there is a theatre garden with seating and a boules court as well as an event area with benches. The Rodaupark is the result of successful public participation and reflects the wishes and needs of the people of Rodgau.
