"Babbelbänke" - babbling on the park bench

Over the next few days, a bench with a brass "Babbelbank" sign will be found in each of Rodgau's neighbourhoods. The benches serve as meeting places for all those who feel the need for an open ear and a good chat. Rodgau is thus picking up on a trend that is already being experienced in many cities. The idea is that anyone who takes a seat on the "Babbelbank" is signalling their openness to a communicative exchange with the person sitting next to them. The bench can be used at any time and, of course, by all generations. The invitation to babble could also serve to promote neighbourly acquaintance and, for example, to bring "newcomers" to the neighbourhood or older people, who often have fewer social contacts, into a cosy and relaxed chat. To make trying them out even more fun, the city's senior citizens' advisory service and the Green Spaces and Forestry department are inviting people to a small celebration on 5 May at 2 pm: At the "Babbelbank" at the local fountain in Hainhausen, on the corner of Wingertsgrund and Johann-Strauß-Straße, Mayor Max Breitenbach, First City Councillor Janika Martin and the IGEMO board will welcome guests with delicious coffee specialities from "6054 Coffee Roasters". The hosts are looking forward to chatting together, which of course also works standing up. Other "Babbelbänke" can be found in Weiskirchen,
Bahnhofstraße / corner of Rodau, by the mill wheel at the rainwater retention basin, in Jügesheim, Konrad-Kappler-Straße / corner of Rodau, opposite Rodaupark, in Dudenhofen on the forecourt of the community centre, in Nieder-Roden at the multi-generational playground on Frankfurter Straße and in Rollwald at the memorial site on Rosenring.
