Two divas take to the stage at Bürgerhaus Nieder-Roden, Römerstraße 15, on Friday, 2 May at 8 p.m. Framed and carried by world-famous chansons such as "La vie en rose", "Lili Marleen" and "Non, je ne regrette rien", "Spatz und Engel" tells the touching story of the intimate friendship between two icons of the 20th century. Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, the "Blue Angel" and the "Sparrow of Paris" - two women who could not be more different. On the one hand, the controlled, cool beauty from a Prussian bourgeois background who attended a boarding school in Weimar and trained as a concert violinist. On the other, the passionate little brat who spent her childhood in a brothel in Normandy and grew up on the streets of Paris. "Sparrow and Angel" takes a unique look at the friendship between the two women, from their first meeting in the ladies' room of a ballroom in 1940s New York to the acid test when Edith threatens to break up after the tragic death of her lover Marcel Cerdan. Marlene fights with all her might to prevent the impending descent into depression, alcoholism and drug addiction. But the self-sacrificing care of "Dietrich" is contrasted with the irrepressible urge for freedom and independence of "Piaf", and for the first time their antagonism threatens to become insurmountable. The scenic-musical round dance takes us back to an era of classic chanson full of elegance, passion and melancholy. Both actresses sing convincingly, especially Heleen Joor as Edith Piaf, amazingly close to the original. The touching play with music was awarded the 1st INTHEGA Prize "Die Neuberin" in 2023. Under the direction of Daniel Große Boymann, Susanne Rader appears on stage as Marlene Dietrich and Heleen Joor as Edith Piaf. Tour management: THESPISKARREN touring theatre.
