Schillerstrasse has been open to traffic again since Wednesday afternoon. The construction site, which began at the end of September 2023, has now been completed. The entire project was a major challenge for local residents, but also for regional and national road traffic. The last section in particular, with the closure of the Schillerstraße / Kolpingstraße junction, demanded a great deal of patience, organisation and detours from the people of Weiskirchen-Ost. The town and Stadtwerke Rodgau would like to express their sincere thanks for this. Schillerstraße was not only given a new asphalt surface. Most of the work took place below the surface: New laying of the main sewer lines incl. house connections, main drinking water lines incl. house connections, main gas lines incl. house connections, power lines 20 KV, fibre optic main lines incl. distribution boxes. In addition, new gully boxes were installed, the street lighting including cabling was renewed, two barrier-free bus stops were built and the traffic lights and signage were renewed. The contracted construction company Rudolph had to contend with persistent heavy rain last summer and extreme cold in the final metres, which is absolutely not suitable for road construction. This led to delays in parts of the construction process. But now it's done and traffic can move. The isolated barriers and construction materials that are still in place have not been forgotten and are still being collected. From Monday, 24 February, the OF-40 and OF-85 buses will also be running normally again. The taxi shuttle will continue to run up to and including Friday according to the timetable displayed at the bus stops.
