Following the opening lecture on the topics of health care proxies, living wills and wills, the city's senior citizens' advice centre is now inviting people to take an "active" look at the topic of dementia. Dementia is a disease that impairs memory and cognitive abilities and can affect older people in particular. How does it feel? How does everyday life change, what challenges and barriers arise? These questions and personal experiences are the focus of the dementia trail, which takes place from 8 to 10 July in the town hall's council chamber, Hintergasse 15. The course offers valuable insights, especially for relatives of dementia sufferers and anyone else who is interested. 8 to 10 stations simulate the reality of life for people with dementia. They focus on everyday tasks such as dressing, cooking, shopping or finding one's way in traffic and make the difficulties that arise tangible. The aim of the self-experiment course developed by "Hands-on Dementia" is to promote understanding of the needs of people with dementia. Participants should develop greater empathy in order to better support those affected and give them positive energy for life. The course is being provided by the Offenbach district's ageing control centre. Admission is free and prior registration is not required. Anyone interested can visit the course on Tuesday from 10 am to 4 pm, on Wednesday from 1 pm to 6 pm and on Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm.
