Mobile cemetery café

In Rodgau Nieder-Roden, a voluntary initiative has been set up to offer people the opportunity to meet at the new cemetery in Römerstraße. The cemetery as a place of dignity, mourning and remembrance is intended to offer visitors a non-binding opportunity to linger in this peaceful atmosphere. The cemetery café will start in June and will be organised by volunteers on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 15:00-17:00. The organisation team led by Dr Elke Spahn and Margit Müller-Ollech offers coffee and homemade cakes. The offer is aimed at all visitors to the cemetery, but does not offer professional grief counselling. Dr Elke Spahn found the group of volunteers mainly among her former classmates. Margit Müller-Ollech clarified the framework conditions for the organisation with the support of the municipal administration, in particular Christina Breuninger. The meeting place is set up for the café day with a cake table, coffee, cups, napkins (no plates) and some cushions. The meeting place is easy to find and is located right in the centre of the cemetery, so to speak: Via the entrance in Borsigstraße along the main path to the centre of the cemetery or coming from Römerstraße past the fountain, turn right and go straight on a little further and you will find the place where there is brick seating, among other things. The initiators are delighted with the positive feedback so far. Anyone who would like to help, for example with a cake donation, is very welcome. The following dates are planned: 18 June, 2 and 16 July, 6 and 20 August, 3 and 17 September. The team hopes for good weather and friendly encounters and warmly welcomes all guests.
