Europe's first female doctor of science, France's first female professor, the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize and the first person to receive a second: Marie Curie was ahead of her time in many ways. The biographical play "Marie Curie" will bring her impressive life story to the stage on Friday, 14 March at 8 pm in the Bürgerhaus, Römerstraße 15. Born in 1867, Curie shaped an entire dynasty of female researchers who continued to have an impact for decades. The physicist and chemist publicly insisted on her share of joint research with her husband, which was also unusual for the time. Their joint discoveries are still considered milestones in nuclear physics today. After the early accidental death of her husband, she dedicated her life more than ever to science in the service of humanity. She asserted herself strongly in the male-dominated world of science. Albert Einstein paid tribute to the mother of two with the words "She was of a strength and sincerity of will, of a hardness against herself, of an objectivity and incorruptibility of judgement that are rarely united in one person". The author of this rousing play is Susanne Felicitas Wolf, who has worked as a playwright in Frankfurt, Vienna and Berlin, among other places. Anja Klawun can be seen in the leading role. Tickets are available from the Department of Culture at Schwesternstraße 10, Ludwigstraße entrance, or from 7 pm on 14 March at the box office.
