Under the motto "Know. Share. Discover.", libraries throughout Germany will be beaming with light for the first time on 4 April. The Nieder-Roden public library will be open until 11.30 pm on this special day. Plenty of time to browse at your leisure, borrow media, exchange ideas, enjoy the drinks provided and enjoy the colourful supporting programme. The team at the public library has come up with some great ideas for visitors. The programme starts at 6 pm with a Kamishibai for the little ones. Children are fascinated by Japanese storytelling theatre, they love the interaction with the storyteller and quickly immerse themselves in the story. Another kamishibai will be performed at 18:30. Adults can experience a sound-rich fantasy journey at 19:30 and 20:30. Claudia Walter from "KlangReich & TrostWerkstatt" in Alzenau will take participants on a "sound journey into the inner realm of words and books". The fantasy journey is accompanied by singing bowls, gong and other elements. The sound journey is free of charge and registration is requested by 3 April. Later in the evening there will be a book speed dating event. From 9 pm there will be book presentations every minute. Bookworms, bibliophiles, book nerds and reading enthusiasts will briefly present their personal favourite book and in return find out which books move other people. The public library is looking forward to lively interest and many registrations for this campaign by 3 April. Background information: The first Night of the Libraries took place in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005, organised by the Association of Libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia (vbnw). Every two years, other federal states such as Schleswig-Holstein, Baden-Württemberg and libraries from Denmark, Belgium and South Tyrol have joined in. At the suggestion of the vbnw, the Night of the Libraries will take place every two years in all 16 federal states from 2025. Elke Büdenbender is the patron of the nationwide Night of Libraries. For her, libraries are places where not only a great deal of knowledge is stored, but where it is also made accessible. "Libraries are a place where stories and information are shared. And they are a place where new things can be discovered."
