Ehrenamtsbörse Rodgau: State award for social civic engagement

Social Affairs Minister Heike Hofmann is calling for suggestions as to which committed individuals and groups should be honoured for their work in the social sector: "Voluntary work, especially in the social sector, is an indispensable pillar for cooperation in our society," said Hofmann. "All citizens who do social work in their free time usually don't do it on a big stage for everyone to see, but often quietly in the background. The state award recognises and thanks committed individuals and groups and makes their indispensable commitment visible." Many active volunteers work together with like-minded people in neighbourhood assistance, for special target groups such as the elderly or disadvantaged children and young people, as well as in other social initiatives. Individuals or groups can be nominated for the state award until 12 September. This can be done online via the link soziales.hessen.de/preise-und-ehrungen/soziales-buergerengagement. If you have any questions, please contact the project office at landesauszeichnung@lagfa-hessen.de or call 0176/76617905. At the award ceremony in Wiesbaden on International Volunteer Day, 5 December, up to five individuals and five groups will be honoured with a sculpture. In addition, the honoured volunteer projects will be supported with prize money of 1,000 euros each.
