Promotion of sustainable mobility
Cyclists can now park their bikes even more conveniently and protected from the weather at both Nieder-Roden and Dudenhofen railway stations. Stadtwerke Rodgau is thus not only responding to the growing demand for parking facilities, but also wants to make a contribution to promoting sustainable mobility. The better the conditions for using bicycles, the more people will get on their bikes, according to the objective. Cycle parking facilities at railway stations are an invitation to leave the car behind on the way to the S-Bahn and use the bike. In this way, cycling can become an integral part of modern, climate-friendly and healthy urban transport.
Plants in Nieder-Roden and Dudenhofen
In Dudenhofen, it is now possible to rent 14 double-decker bike boxes. The lower ones are equipped with sockets for charging e-bikes and pedelecs. The same applies to the bicycle boxes at the S-Bahn station in Nieder-Roden. Here, additional covered parking spaces have been created with 8 bike racks for special bikes such as cargo bikes or trailers and 26 racks for conventional bikes.
Costs & funding
The boxes can be booked via www.bikeanridebox.de. They cost from 1 euro per day, the exact price information can be found on the website. In total, the innovations cost around 300,000 euros. The project is financially supported by funds from the directive of the state of Hesse to promote local mobility.
