New cycle route from autumn holidays
The city of Rodgau is implementing another important component of its mobility concept: During the autumn holidays, three central road sections in Nieder-Roden will be rededicated as cycle lanes. The measure is intended to increase road safety, bundle cycle traffic and improve the quality of life in the town centre, particularly around Puiseauxplatz. The streets affected are Wiesbadener Straße, Otzberg Straße and Krümmlingsweg.
Road sections
These road sections connect important points of interest such as Nieder-Roden railway station, schools, sports facilities and Puiseauxplatz. The new cycle lanes will be clearly marked by official traffic signs and pictograms on the road surface. Colour-coded pictograms will be placed at key junctions to increase the awareness of all road users. The conversion to a cycle lane brings with it clear rules for all road users.
What is a cycle lane
According to the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), bicycles always have right of way and may also ride side by side. The maximum speed limit for all road users is 30 km/h. Cars may only drive on the cycle lane if this is expressly permitted by an additional sign (e.g. "Kfz frei"). This is the case in the new cycle lanes in Rodgau, as local traffic is still permitted. However, cyclists must not be endangered or obstructed. Motorists must adjust their speed and stay behind cyclists if necessary. The town of Rodgau appeals to all road users to observe the new rules and to be considerate of each other.
