Event on 2 October
The project "Wunschgroßeltern" of the city of Rodgau wants to bring generations together. On Thursday, 2 October, there will be an information café from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Family Centre, Alter Weg 63F. All those interested in the project are invited. Current intended grandparents will talk about their experiences and answer questions from potential new intended grandparents.
Idea of the project
Young families, especially newcomers, often live with their children without grandparents in the neighbourhood. The children miss grandma and grandpa, who might read them a story or go to the playground. And then there are more mature people without children or whose children have moved away, who would like to take on the role of grandma or grandad from time to time. Perhaps they would like to bake biscuits together, plant flowers or simply swap stories, but don't have the opportunity to do so. The family centre and the senior citizens' advice service of the town of Rodgau bring together what can grow together and are urgently looking for "young at heart" (50+) who would like to spend time with the younger generation. Many young families are eagerly waiting for their "grandma" or "grandad" ....
