Internal development strategy of the city of Rodgau

How can new living space be created without sealing additional areas and without changing the character of Rodgau? This is precisely the question that the town of Rodgau has been working on intensively and is now presenting its internal development strategy. With this strategy, Rodgau is consciously focussing on moderate further development within the existing urban area. The aim is to make sensible use of existing areas, create additional housing opportunities and at the same time preserve the quality of life, green structures and established neighbourhoods. Internal development does not mean uncontrolled densification. Instead, the city pursues a clearly structured, data-based approach. This is based on comprehensive inventories, expert analyses and the active participation of citizens. Aspects such as infrastructure, mobility, climate and environmental protection as well as social concerns are systematically taken into account. Options for internal development can include adding storeys, roof extensions, extensions or closing gaps between buildings. At the same time, careful consideration is given to where redensification is sensible and compatible - and where it is not. The internal development strategy serves as a long-term framework for future planning. Existing development plans remain valid. Specific developments will take place gradually and on an area-by-area basis. If you would like to find out more about the strategy, you can find further information, the brochure and a video on the inner city development strategy on the city's website at www.rodgau.de/innenentwicklung.
