    • Carnival parade on 1 March through Jügesheim with over 50 parade numbers and record crowds. Municipal council dispenses with a VIP platform and rides on a special float in the procession for the first time, because "the Kölpin drove them away". The Jügesheim Singers' Association's float wins prize for best parade number.
    • Pool-Billiard-Club Rodgau wins Hesse Championship.
    • Rudolf Riedt is elected Chairman of the SPD in Rodgau, which is reorganised as a municipal association.
    • Parish council of the Catholic parish of Nieder-Roden decides to rebuild the parish centre in the old town in the area of the sisters' house.
    • Citizens' initiative in Nieder-Roden calls for tunnel solution for railway crossing in Nieder-Roden.

    • Brazil's national gymnastics team visits the Weiskirchen Sports Association.

    • Sportvereinigung Weiskirchen celebrates a quadruple championship for its footballers, namely the D-, A-youth, juniors and 2nd team.
    • The Dudenhofen noise barrier is built at the optimum height, with the federal government bearing the entire cost of 1.5 million marks.
    • Hovestadt sand-lime brickworks celebrates its 25th anniversary.
    • Regional planning community Untermain partially rejects Rodgau's planning concept. For example, the Rollwald and Nieder-Roden districts are not to grow together structurally, but the fields between them are to be preserved.
    • Holiday games begin in perfect weather. This time two groups travelled to Nieuwpoort.

    • TSV Dudenhofen wins the Rodgau Cup for footballers 3:0.

    • Joint anniversary celebration of the three local associations of the Workers' Welfare Association in Weiskirchen, Hainhausen and Nieder-Roden to mark the 60th anniversary of the organisation in Germany.
    • Successful holiday for the disabled organised by KJG Jügesheim in the Vosges with 55 participants.
    • Nieder-Roden youth fire brigade wins bronze medal at the 2nd International Youth Fire Brigade Competition in Austria.
    • Catholic parish of Dudenhofen celebrates 25th anniversary of St Mary's parish church.
  • September

    • Over 2,100 senior citizens take part in the trips to Lahnstein over three days.
    • City Week, the week-long festival in all parts of the city, begins on Monday, 10 September, with an indoor handball match between the European Cup winners Groß-Wallstadt and a Rodgau selection in the Nieder-Roden sports hall. The visitors win 29:14 in a furious game in the packed hall.
    • Highlight of the city week and the year in Rodgau:
    • On 15 September, the Hessian Minister of the Interior, Ekkehard Gries, presents the certificate for the granting of town rights at the big celebration in the Nieder-Roden community centre hall. From now on, Rodgau is no longer a municipality, but a town.
    • The city's first act after the week-long celebration: ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the municipal sports hall in Hainhausen in September.
    • The cycling club "Germania" Jügesheim once again organises its cycling race "Grand Prix of Rodgau" with record numbers of participants and visitors.
    • The district's school development plan envisages a special school in Rodgau.

    • The Jügesheim Fruit and Horticultural Association celebrates its 25th anniversary.
    • The singing group "Rodgau Tramps 66", singing group of the "Eintracht" Hainhausen, transfers 3,820 marks to the "Aktion Sorgenkind" as proceeds from the TV evening during the city week.
    • International billiards match in Jügesheim.
    • Red Cross Jügesheim wants to purchase social vehicle for elderly and disabled people.
    • 1st ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the municipal sports hall in Jügesheim .
    • The sixth form is to be set up in pavilions at the Jügesheim comprehensive school as early as the 1980/81 school year, until the new building planned in Dudenhofen is completed.
    • Handball-Rodgau selection plays against Bundesliga team SG Dietzenbach in favour of Aktion Sorgenkind and loses 28:10.
    • Red Cross Jügesheim launches clothes sale campaign to purchase the social vehicle.

    • Successful performance of nurseries from Rodgau at the Federal Garden Show with their Erika varieties.
    • Gerhard and Marianne Spahn were crowned the Rodgau prince and princess of the 1979/80 campaign at TGS Jügesheim.
    • Another great Gymnaestrada organised by SG Nieder-Roden with all the gymnastics clubs.
    • Wolfgang Oehlschlägel of the Rodgau CDU confirmed in office as Chairman.
  • December

    • The results of the November traffic count in the Hainhausen/Weiskirchen area show that a bypass for Hainhausen will not be necessary if the Rodgau ring road is built.
    • Major concerts by the music and orchestral societies, Weiskirchen Music Society, Dudenhofen Music Society and Nieder-Roden Music Society with praise from the state level and also a major joint concert by the Jügesheim societies in aid of the planned Catholic parish centre, which is to replace the sisters' house.
    • Another good deed by the Rodgauers at the end of the year: over 10,000 marks in donations in kind are collected for the orphanage village in Brixen.
    • The SOS bazaar in Nieder-Roden brings in 16,000 marks, the Protestant bazaar in Dudenhofen 8,000 marks.
    • On Christmas Day, 50 children set off on the first municipal ski trip to Mittelberg/Oberallgäu.
