    • Rodgau welcomes the new year with traditional events such as the clean-up after New Year's Eve by the Ahmadiya community, the wood auction organised by the Germania singers and numerous receptions.
    • The theft of the Christ Child from the cot in the Catholic church of St Nicholas in Jügesheim shocks Rodgau. A few days later, an angel figure is stolen from the church of St Matthias in Nieder-Roden.
    • A beaver family seems to like the renaturalisation measures so much that they are settling there - at least that's what the traces found suggest.
    • The first citizen solar system is connected to the grid and is intended to inspire not only the sun but also investors for environmental protection on the roof of the Wiesbadener Straße sports hall.
    • Rudi Keller is looking for a new home for his historic agricultural machinery, which, collected over decades, has grown into the largest collection in southern Hesse.
    • The Kreppelkaffee opens this year's carnival season in Nieder-Roden.
    • A measuring station is set up in Weiskirchen to record aircraft noise. Together with the stations in Heusenstamm, Obertshausen, Seligenstadt and Hainburg, the results should provide arguments in the dispute over the new approach.

    • Children have been learning and growing at the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Schule in Dudenhofen for 50 years. Rodgau residents are also reacting fearfully to the unsafe conditions in Egypt and are cancelling their trips to their dream holiday destination.
    • With no snow cover at all and after the long winter, Rodgau's roads also present many a pothole, which are now being filled as quickly as possible - to relieve the burden on local authority budgets with state funds.
    • It had only just been discovered when, through carelessness but without malicious intent, its den was destroyed and it was driven away: The beaver in the Rodau.
    • Big prize for young inventors: the special prize of the NaturPur Award goes to the Heinrich Böll School, which is working on an energy project together with Gartenstadtschule and Schule Am Bürgerhaus. The city publishes its education report and wants to strengthen its self-defined educational mission in kindergartens, schools and especially among children and young people with a migration background.
    • After some back and forth and contrary to the parents' vote, the return of GBS to G9 has now been approved by the education authority after all. The city wants to take part in the joint lawsuit against the new approach procedure.

    • There is only one lone airborne punch in the town treasury, making it clear that the carnival season is approaching its climax with the storming of the town hall. The carnival procession is once again a colourful round dance full of great costumes, amusing themes and impressive floats. Sadly, the head of the procession, Melanie Meyer-Marbach, doesn't get to experience any of the exuberant atmosphere: she falls at the start of the procession and breaks both hands.
    • Jörg-Uwe Hahn, Hessian Minister for Justice, Integration and Europe, was one of the estimated 4,500 visitors to the education fair.
    • Rodgau Mitte is also the second fire station to be inaugurated, this time for the fire brigades from Hainhausen and Jügesheim.
    • MarieWonder do not celebrate a quiet and sterile award ceremony in the GBS auditorium. The four young musicians loudly and vocally accept the city's cultural award.
    • Spring greetings, fragrant, colourful and handmade, can be found at the Easter market of the Rodgau Adult Education Centre in the Bürgerhaus Nieder-Roden.
    • The merger between TGS and TGM SV Jügesheim stands on shaky but majority legs from the point of view of TGS.
    • Detlef Gruner, marksman at the Diana Shooting Club, is Sportsman of the Year and is honoured during the city's club gala.
    • Rodgau music is excellent after all: The ska band "MoB!" wins the "Rockie Award" as the best up-and-coming band at "Hessen Rockt".
    • Rodgau has voted and put together a new parliament. The CDU has 13, the SPD 12, the Greens 8, the ZmB 7, the FPD and Freie Wähler 2 each and the Linke 1 elected representative in the municipal council.
    • In the midst of the blossoming surroundings at the Fischer nursery, visitors don't want to wake up from the "Midsummer Night's Dream" staged by Tanja Garlt.
    • Not only is the acting murderously good, but so is the food at TGM SV's murder mystery dinner.

    • Because there are now so many pigeons on the town hall square, giving it a Mediterranean flair, the square is to be called "Markusplatz" in future. Unfortunately, no Rodgau residents fall for this April Fool's joke - despite the "free cake".
    • Spring in the streets of Jügesheim offers the festival of the Rodgau trade association GHD with its stands, cheerful visitors and primroses as far as the eye can see.
    • TGM SV hosted the 25th Hessian Championships for Garde- und Schautanzsport - impressive in organisation and performance.
    • Hainhausen celebrates its TGH and the State of Hesse has the Silver Badge of Honour presented by State Secretary Michael Bußer in honour of the 125th anniversary.
    • TGM SV agrees to merge with TGS, but the latter refuses two days later. This meant that the merger of the two sports clubs, which had been planned for months, was cancelled.
    • On Rodgau-Ring Straße, the remodelling of the Alter Weg and Mainzer Straße junctions is fraying the nerves of motorists and asparagus farmers.
    • With the "OpenStage" initiative, another non-profit organisation is being founded to focus on the cultural scene in Rodgau.
    • Blazing Easter fires, Easter runners and nest hunts at the bathing lake - the Easter bunny has found its way to Rodgau.
    • The ringing of the bells disturbed him and so an unknown person threw a stone through the window of the Catholic St Roch's Church in Hainhausen.

    • Hans Grimm, a football personality and the driving force behind the SV, later TGM SV Jügesheim, dies.
    • The approaching end of civilian service is also slowly making itself felt at social organisations in Rodgau and causing staff shortages.
    • 125 years ago, 40 sportsmen and women founded TG Weiskirchen, whose big anniversary is now being celebrated.
    • The sponsored runs at the Carl-Orff and Freiherr-vom-Stein schools are not only a tradition, but also become more frequent on the warm early summer weekends.

    • The young-at-heart TGH celebrates its 125th birthday with a parade through Hainhausen.
    • Eight people are injured, some very seriously, in a head-on collision between Rodgau and Rödermark.
    • On the Open Gardens Day, garden lovers and those who might want to become garden lovers come together for the fourth time.
    • "Many cooks spoil the broth" - not so at the baking day in Dudenhofen, where 130 kindergarten children conjure up delicious dinosaurs.
    • The holidays are approaching and school reports are beckoning. Franziska Wolf and Felix Meissner need have no fear, as they have achieved their A-levels with a dream grade of 1.0.
    • 400 HBS pupils collect around 362 kilos of rubbish on their way to school as part of the "Clean Hessen" campaign.
    • Open Sundays, forest and parish festivals, street parties - the "good mood summer" has arrived in Rodgau.
    • Dudenhofen, for centuries predominantly Protestant, celebrates its first Catholic priest Sebastian Goldner's first mass in his home parish.

    • Pedalling for a good cause: cyclists from the ADFC Rodgau are also pedalling hard on the 24-hour bike ride along the Main between Klein-Krotzenburg and Groß-Auheim.
    • Burglars steal around one tonne of metal and 200 litres of diesel from a lorry. The damage amounts to several thousand euros.
    • The construction of social housing in Ludwigstrasse begins with the ground-breaking ceremony.
    • Six clubs from Rodgau and Rödermark need a lot of strength and stamina for the city run.
    • The Dudenhofen Music Society makes it to the top of the HR4 competition and shows its joy with a triumphal procession through Rodgau.
    • For the 15th time, it's time to raise a glass: the Rodgau Wine Week is opened by the mayor and wine queen and celebrates a "small anniversary". Unfortunately, the event ends with a police operation, as young people organised via Facebook spread chaos.
    • The remediation of the groundwater requires a great deal of patience: the elimination of the long-term effects of a metal factory that closed 16 years ago by means of a new plant is expected to take 15 years.

    • The Hessian judo summer school with teacher and former master Shiro Yamamoto has started again in Nieder-Roden.
    • Josef Lach presents his book "Fünf Dörfer - eine Stadt" (Five villages - one town), which reports on the settlement history of Rodgau.
    • Get up close and personal with bats: at the bat festival organised by the Rodgau Nature Conservation Association, you can get information and see the small winged animals live.
    • In Rodgau's largest beer garden at the Germania cycling club, almost every culinary wish is catered for.
    • The Weiskirch "Kerbborsch" is dressed up, but only has a short life: The party lasts five days, then it goes up in flames.

    • Four "Stolpersteine", which will be cemented in Nieuwpoorter Straße, commemorate the Jewish Reinhardt family.
    • No more sleep because of aircraft noise: 775 schoolchildren and toddlers can no longer sleep at night for this reason. 50 members of the citizens' initiative protest in favour of a ban on night flights.
    • Rock music instead of lessons: Bands such as "Melibokus" and the "Stage Fighters" rock out for the school projects at the benefit concert organised by the school at the community centre.
    • Lawsuit against apple thieves: Owners of orchards are outraged because entire apple trees are being picked empty by thieves. In Nieder-Roden, as many as 20 fruit trees were destroyed with a chainsaw.
    • Albert Kämmerer brings the old days back to life in his Dudenhöfen town chronicle.
    • Now the pupils are in charge: the Münchhausen School is setting up a pupil parliament, enabling the children to organise their school a little more according to their wishes and needs.
    • Sweating for work with the disabled: the 24-hour run at the Dudenhofen sports centre raised a whopping 130,000 euros for "Gemeinsam mit Behinderten".
    • An anti-corruption unit is introduced at the Rodgau municipal administration.
    • First aid for the cuddly toy: At the 30th children's festival of the city of Rodgau, there is a colourful programme for the little citizens, including a teddy bear being treated by the Red Cross.
    • Heinrich von Kleist in the auditorium of the Georg Büchner School: the TGS theatre group captivates the audience with a modern performance of the drama "Penthesilea", in which the emotional abysses are revealed alongside love.
    • Most of the Georg Büchner School stays at home because of a threat made by an eighth-grader. Pupils, parents, teachers and even the police are in an uproar, but fortunately nothing has happened. However, the "culprit" has lost his place at school.
    • It's going to get windy in Rodgau: Mayor Hoffmann is already negotiating with investors for wind turbines that are to be installed to reduce the burden on the environment.
    • Flying high: at the kite festival at the bathing lake, you can admire all kinds of things in the sky thanks to the favourable wind. From the Mainzelmännchen to the lighthouse, everything is there.
    • The facility management of the city of Rodgau is being restructured.
    • An armed man holds up a professional drinks store and steals a four-figure sum of money. The tied-up store manager is eventually freed by the police.

    • The city councillors approve the extension of the pedestrian paths along the Rodau. 126,000 euros are available for this purpose.
    • There was a great atmosphere at this year's Oktoberfest organised by the AH handball team of the Hainhausen gymnastics club. With good weather and appropriate music, many visitors gather for the beer tapping.
    • Five life-size wooden figures carrying a smiling water snake: the new work of art in Jügesheim is intended to symbolise the districts of Rodgau and the Rodau river flowing through it. Unfortunately, the unveiling will take place in the rain, but at least the water snake shouldn't mind.
    • The foundation stone is laid for the extension of "Haus Emmanuel" in Vordergasse. Five more flats for the disabled are to be built.
    • The town of Rodgau has a new Equal Opportunities Officer: Birgit Bauer now represents the interests of Rodgau's female citizens.
    • One of the last bunkers in Rodgau is being dismantled in Jügesheim. A residential building is now to be built there.
    • Miniature fun for young and old: over 3,000 visitors to the 3rd US Model Railway Convention marvel at the model railway layouts up to 12 metres long.
    • At the ground-breaking ceremony for the extension to the Dudenhöfen daycare centre on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße, even the little ones grab the shovels.
    • Jügesheim in the right light: At this year's Festival of Lights, you can see handicrafts, jewellery and much more at 80 stands.
    • Art in the community centre: At "Rodgauer-Art", the numerous visitors can marvel at paintings as well as three-dimensional art by a total of 47 artists.

    • A budget deficit of 12 million euros is expected for 2012. To compensate for this, the dog tax is to be increased, leading to heated discussions.

    • Winter running in shorts: Thanks to spring-like temperatures, many of the 439 runners in the 32nd TGMSV winter running series can start in light clothing.
    • Good advice doesn't have to be expensive: By dialling the hotline number 115, you can now obtain information about the town hall and its services without being sent from one department to the next.
    • 60 guests make contacts at the business breakfast in the delicatessen "Culinara".
    • Rodgauer "conjures up" victory on "Wetten, dass...?": Stefan Pochmann solves a magic cube blindfolded, and even under water! The Rodgau native wows almost 10 million TV viewers so much that he makes it to the top of the competition.
    • Robbery with a note instead of a weapon: A young man attacks the Volksbank branch in Dudenhofen by holding up a note announcing a robbery. The police then use helicopters to search for him.
    • "Rodgau Helau": The jester's flag is hoisted on Hermann-Sahm-Platz at 11.11 a.m. on the dot. Young and old lend a hand.
    • And the culture prize goes to... "Sängerkranz Polyhymnia"! The prizewinner impresses with its performance of the musical "Dance of the Vampires".
    • The town hall is filled with the smell of biscuits and children's laughter: The children from the Wilhelm Busch School parade through the corridors with a handcart and sell home-baked biscuits to support a school in Mali.
    • During the Advent stroll in Jügesheim, visitors can warm themselves with "snowmen".

    • Mayor Hoffmann answers questions during a visit by pupils from the Carl Orff School.
    • This year, the SOS-Helferkreis Nieder-Roden was able to collect 11,000 euros, which will now be donated to children's villages in Eisenberg in the Palatinate, in Saxony and in Somalia.
    • Heiko Lautenschläger is elected by the general meeting as the first chairman of the new CDU local association Rodgau Mitte.
    • The closure of the Weiskirchen library is being protested against on numerous signature lists. In future, the premises will be used to provide childcare for schoolchildren.
    • The budget for the coming year has been decided: With a deficit of 11.7 million euros. The dog tax is to be increased in future to compensate for this to some extent.
    • At the benefit concert in the Nieder-Roden community centre, the almost 200 singing children earn a lot of applause.
