According to the latest IW Municipal Check by the Institute of German Economy (IW), the town of Rodgau is among the local authorities with very good public services. In this nationwide study, which assessed 10,817 German municipalities, 17 indicators were taken into account in the overall assessment. Factors taken into account included mobile phone and broadband coverage, access to doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and care facilities, connections to local public transport as well as to motorways and airports, leisure facilities, and the provision of schools and nurseries. In this comprehensive analysis, Rodgau ranked among the top municipalities and was awarded a ‘Very Good’ rating. Mayor Max Breitenbach commented: “This award confirms that Rodgau offers its residents a high quality of life. At the same time, the result shows that our town is also, in general, an attractive location for businesses and skilled workers. The good infrastructure, short distances, a wide range of educational and childcare provision, and the excellent transport links within the Rhine-Main metropolitan region are proof of this.” The rating is also significant from the perspective of economic development. Bardo Neuhäusel, head of the Agency for Economic Development and City Marketing in Rodgau, emphasised: “The availability of education, healthcare and transport services is now one of the decisive location factors in the competition for skilled workers and business relocations. Companies are looking for locations where their employees enjoy living and working. The IW Municipal Check confirms that Rodgau offers excellent conditions for this. This strengthens our position in the competition for investment, skilled workers and new residents.” The IW Municipal Check is based on the analysis of small-scale census data on the accessibility of various facilities and combines this with a nationwide survey representative of the population. The aim of the study is to enable a comparison of the quality of public services and to provide a transparent picture of living conditions in towns and municipalities. With its ‘Very good’ rating, Rodgau has confirmed its commitment to continuously investing in infrastructure, education, digitalisation and quality of life, thereby securing the long-term viability of the location.
