Rodgau Municipal Library is taking its Kamishibai theatre outdoors. Story lovers of all ages, from 3 years old upwards, can experience the Japanese storytelling theatre Kamishibai at the Jügesheim water tower on 28 July at 3.30 pm. Kamishibai translates as ‘paper theatre’ and is a traditional Japanese art of storytelling. Colourful picture cards are presented in a small wooden theatre whilst the storyteller brings the tale to life. The audience can look directly at the pictures, allowing them to immerse themselves even more deeply in the story. It is a unique combination of visual art and oral storytelling that has fascinated children and adults alike for centuries. Kamishibai storytelling stimulates the imagination and creativity of the listeners and promotes children’s language development. Above all, Kamishibai is great fun and a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, have a laugh and discover new worlds. The event is free of charge; no booking is required. Please bring a seat mat with you. The event will be cancelled in the event of bad weather. The event is a collaboration between the City Library and the ‘Friends of the Water Tower 1986 e.V.’ association.
