Last Wednesday, 3 June, the town of Rodgau celebrated a sporting milestone. For the 25th time, a team from the town council took part in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge (JPMCC) in Frankfurt. This year, 20 colleagues represented the town among the huge field of participants at this long-standing event. With a total of 64,000 runners, the race set off from the Alte Oper after a short wait, covering the 5.6-kilometre route through Frankfurt city centre. This time, the Rodgau running group included two very special participants: two volunteer firefighters from the Rodgau Volunteer Fire Brigade completed the entire distance in full gear – including heavy compressed-air cylinders on their backs. The fantastic atmosphere along the route and the applause from the numerous spectators carried the town council team to the finish line. The runners rounded off the evening with some cool drinks. The group agreed that the sporting representation of the town of Rodgau had been a resounding success, and are already looking forward to taking part again next year.
