More safety for rescuers and buildings

The Rodgau fire brigade is delighted: SV SparkassenVersicherung (SV) and SV Kommunal are supporting the local emergency services with a generous donation for day-to-day operations and the protection of their own locations. In addition to a state-of-the-art thermal imaging camera and a flexible LED rechargeable lamp, the town of Rodgau is receiving a grant of EUR 1,000. This money will go directly towards the comprehensive installation of radio-networked smoke alarms at three locations (North, Centre and South) and in the fire service vehicles. The background to the funding is an often underestimated risk. Fires in fire stations occur time and again. They are often caused by the permanent charging stress of vehicle batteries and accumulators. The financial consequences for a local authority can be devastating. In the event of a fire, the insurance for destroyed fire engines often only pays the current value. However, new purchases quickly add up to higher sums. Without financial support, a city is left without operational vehicles in an emergency. To close this existential gap and ease the burden on municipal budgets, SV supports local authorities with its insurance cover. By 2029, the insurer plans to subsidise the installation of early fire detection systems in over 800 municipalities with almost one million euros. "Unfortunately, there have been repeated fires in fire stations in other municipalities in the recent past, which have significantly impaired operational readiness. To ensure that our locations remain intact for a long time to come, we are delighted to have the support of SparkassenVersicherung," says Mayor Max Breitenbach. Thanks to the grant of 1,000 euros, the Rodgau fire brigade is equipping its three fire stations and vehicles with radio-networked smoke alarms across the board. The special feature of this system is that if a detector goes off, a responsible centre is automatically notified immediately. This means that an incipient fire can be recognised and fought as early as possible before the valuable technology in the building is damaged. In addition to building safety, the new equipment optimises work at the scene of an accident. The thermal imaging camera can be used to search for people in smoke-filled rooms, for orientation in burning objects and for hazardous goods operations to precisely read liquid levels in tanks. The mobile LED battery-powered light can be extended up to 1.80 metres and provides fast and flexible illumination of emergency scenes. The city of Rodgau and the city fire department would like to thank SV SparkassenVersicherung for this important contribution to the safety of the emergency services and the entire population.
