Artists at the Rodgau Gallery discuss their works

Under the theme ‘Imagination’, Johanna Galland, Thorsten Faber and Thorsten Frank have been exhibiting at the Rodgau Galerie, Nieuwpoorter Straße 90, since 9 September. On Sunday 18 October, from 2 pm, the artists themselves will be giving guided tours of their exhibition, giving visitors an insight into their works and techniques. The exhibitors are united by a passion for sparking the imagination through their art. Johanna Brynja Galland was born in Heidelberg in 1980 and grew up in Syracuse, USA, and in Marburg an der Lahn. She studied Visual Communication at the Offenbach University of Art and Design and now lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She loves drawing and painting, nature and the power of confusion. Her works are natural mosaics, graphically drawn and painted with deep texture – linked by elements of ink. Thorsten Frank (ToRos) was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1971. He studied Communication Design at the AVA Academy of Visual Arts in Frankfurt. Since 2001, he has been a freelance artist with numerous exhibitions both at home and abroad. In his artistic practice, he specialises in what is known as ‘Pan-Art’ and works predominantly with a palette knife and paint roller. He mixes his own paints according to a special formula. The multi-layered nature of the work and the use of the palette knife give the pieces a sense of movement and a rhythm of colour. This creates a sense of spatiality on the two-dimensional canvas. Thorsten Faber, born in 1968 in Gießen, lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. He has been working as a freelance photographic artist since 2022. At the heart of his artistic interest lies the everyday, the seemingly banal. A recurring theme is his exploration of beauty, transformation and transience. Faber’s photographic subjects are originally found in urban spaces. Decayed and weathered elements on streets or on the walls of buildings. Through Faber’s artistic intervention, new patterns, forms and symbols emerge, reminiscent of the symbolism of ancient cultures or of street art. All three will guide visitors through the exhibition, are open to lively discussion and will answer questions. For more information, visit kultur@rodgau.de.
