Specialist area Geodata Service

The Geodata Service department organises the geodata in the city of Rodgau's Geographic Information System (GIS). Geodata is digital information with a spatial reference. Everyone uses geodata in a wide variety of applications, e.g. with navigation systems or online services such as Google Maps.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Thematic processing of geodata and visualisation in GIS
• Technical "harmonisation" with the GIS
• Organisation of data storage and provision in accordance with national and EU legislation with regard to legal requirements
• Provision of geodata for internal purposes
• Establishment of a geodata infrastructure with the aim of
  • Exchange of geoinformation via the Internet
  • Provision of geodata in online portals such as GeoAS Web(information on the use of GeoAS Web) with the integration of existing geodata services
  • Public participation in urban processes*

*The organisation of geodata with the involvement of citizens, who want to actively shape planning and have an increasing interest in geodata, contributes to efficient and cost-oriented work, e.g. in urban development, land management or environmental issues.
