Landlord confirmation

  • Service description

If you move into a new home, you will need a confirmation from your landlord/landlady that you have moved in. You must present this to the relevant registration authority each time you register.

The landlord/landlady is usually the owner of the flat. However, it can also be the property management company appointed by the owner or, if you are subletting, the main tenant of the flat.

The landlord's confirmation of residence must contain the following information:

Name and address of the landlord/landlady

    • Name and address of the owner (if he/she is not the landlord/landlady)
    • Address of the flat
    • Names of all persons who move into the flat and are therefore required to register
    • Date of collection
  • Procedure

You will receive the confirmation of residence from your landlord/landlady.

Landlords and landladies also have the option of submitting the confirmation electronically to the relevant registration authority if they have opened a corresponding access point. In this case, you will receive a so-called allocation feature from your landlord/landlady, which will be communicated to him/her by the registration authority.

If you then register with this registration office, either present the landlord's confirmation of residence or state the allocation feature.

  • What deadlines do I have to observe?

The landlord/landlady is obliged to issue the confirmation no later than two weeks after moving in.

If the landlord/landlady refuses to issue the confirmation or if it is not possible for you to obtain the confirmation for other reasons, you must inform the competent registration authority immediately.
