Deregister secondary residence
Service description
If you move out of a secondary residence and do not move into another residence in Germany, you must deregister for this residence.
Responsible office
The registration office of the municipality or city of the then sole residence or the main residence, if you have other residences.
When the 2nd BMGÄndG comes into force, deregistration will also be permitted at the location of the secondary residence.

What fees are incurred?
There are no fees.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
You must deregister from the secondary residence within 2 weeks of moving out. You can deregister in the week before you move out of the flat.

Some registration authorities offer corresponding documents on the Internet.
What else should I know?
In the case of persons under the age of 16, care must be taken to ensure that they are deregistered by the person from whose home they are moving out.
