Applying for renewal of the taxi licence

Proceed as follows to obtain a renewal of the licence for the commercial transport of passengers by taxi:

• Submit a corresponding application to the office responsible for you and enclose all the necessary documents with the application.
• The authority will process your application and carry out the necessary hearing procedures.
• You will receive notification of the decision to reissue the taxi licence. If applicable, you will receive the licence certificate.

• The applicant is or was already in possession of a taxi licence as an entrepreneur.
• The safety and efficiency of the company are guaranteed.
• There are no facts indicating the unreliability of the applicant as an entrepreneur or of the person appointed to manage the business.
• The applicant as entrepreneur or the person appointed to manage the business is professionally qualified.
• The applicant and the contractors commissioned by the applicant to provide transport services have their registered office or place of business within the meaning of commercial law in Germany.
• The renewed granting of the authorisation is limited to a period of up to 5 years.

Legal entities under public law are deemed to fulfil the requirements.

Existing entrepreneurs are given appropriate consideration over new applicants. Within the authorisation quotas, consideration is given according to the chronological order in which applications are submitted.

Irrespective of the application, subordinate treatment is given,

• who does not intend to pursue the taxi trade as their main occupation,
• has not operated his or her taxi business as his or her main occupation or has sold or leased it in whole or in part within the past 8 years,
• has not properly fulfilled his or her operating obligations

An applicant may only be granted one authorisation at a time, provided that no more authorisations can be granted than there are applicants.

• Application for reissue (surname, first name of the applicant; place of residence and place of business; in the case of natural persons: Date of birth, place of birth; number of vehicles, vehicle type, capacity of the vehicles to be used
• Equity certificate / additional certificate (form in accordance with § 2 Para. 2 No. 2/ § 2 Para. 3 of the Professional Access Ordinance for Road Passenger Transport PBZugV), not older than 12 months
• Clearance certificate from the tax office, the municipality, the social insurance institution and the employers' liability insurance association, not older than 3 months (from the company, the legal representative and the person appointed to manage the business / transport management)
• Certificate of good conduct for submission to the authorities according to § 30 paragraph 5 BZRG
• Extract from the central trade register in accordance with Section 150 (5) GewO (for companies)
• Extract from the driving aptitude register (FAER)

General documents

• Vehicle list, if applicable rental vehicles with rental contract or leasing list
• Proof of liability insurance for taxis including risk index (WKZ)
• Proof of installation of an alarm system or exemption authorisation in accordance with § 25 BOKraft
• Proof of the installation of a fare indicator (taximeter) and, if applicable, the last calibration report
• Business registration
