Youth fire brigade - Become a member

  • Service description

Almost every volunteer fire brigade in Hesse also has a youth fire brigade. Children and young people between the ages of 10 and 17 can become members.

In the youth fire brigade, there is plenty of fun, variety and action through learning firefighting techniques and exciting competitions. There are also camps and other leisure activities such as fitness, games, commitment to environmental protection, action days, film evenings, discussion groups and much more.

Learning to work in a team is important in the youth fire brigade - a basic requirement for possible later work in a (volunteer) fire brigade.

Further information on the subject of youth fire brigades can be found on the website of the Hessian Youth Fire Brigade and the volunteer fire brigade and youth fire brigade in your home town.

  • Procedure

Contact your local fire brigade. You can find the address, e-mail or telephone number from your municipality or on its website or newsletters or on the website of your fire brigade.

  • Prerequisites

For children and young people between the ages of 10 and 17. In principle, however, young people can be members of the youth fire brigade up to the age of 27.

  • Legal basis

  • What else should I know?

The leaders of a youth fire brigade (youth fire wardens) receive special training before working with the children and young people. Most of them acquire the youth leader card and have to complete 40 hours of training for this.

The children and young people are comprehensively insured against accidents during group lessons or youth fire brigade events as well as on the way there and back.
