Film and shooting permits (use of public traffic areas)
Service description
A permit is required for the use of public traffic areas for film and television recordings.
If road closures, stopping bans or other measures affecting traffic are required for filming, a road traffic permit is required in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act. If no road traffic order is required for filming and shooting, a special use permit is required in accordance with the Federal Trunk Roads Act or the Hessian Roads Act.Which documents are required?
An informal application to which the following must be attached:
- Address and contact details of the applicant/addressee (mobile/telephone, fax)
- Exact details of the filming location with site plan sketch
- Precise deadlines, description of the scope and programme sequence
What fees are incurred?
Expenses and fees are incurred for road closures and special use.
The competent authority will provide information in individual cases.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
The application should be submitted well in advance - if possible 4 weeks - before the desired date.

Legal remedy
An appeal against the refusal of a special use permit may be lodged with the competent authority.
An appeal against the refusal of a road traffic order must be lodged with the competent administrative court.
