Talking to children about death and grief
Death is not an easy subject, and yet it can happen to any of us at any time. That is precisely why it is important to consider in advance how children understand death and grieve. In the event of a tragedy, there is often hardly any time to do so; this is exactly what we would like to explore this evening. How do children understand death? How do they grieve? And how can adults offer them sensitive support during times of farewell and loss? |
This themed evening provides a basic understanding of how children experience grief, offers practical suggestions for conversations and for dealing with saying goodbye, and allows time for questions and discussion. It will also feature a selection of picture books that offer children and adults a gentle introduction to the topics of death, grief and new beginnings.
