Population forecast

The population forecast shows how the population could develop in the coming years. This own projection is based on current trends and takes into account births, inflows and outflows for the Offenbach district (Regionalised population projection in Hesse by administrative districts, © Hessisches Statistisches Landesamt, Wiesbaden, 2023)

Line chart shows population forecast up to 2050 with increase from 43,115 in 2013 to 54,848 in 2050, data as at 31 December 2023

The kink in 2022 was caused by the 2022 census. This official population census revealed that Rodgau - like many other cities - has fewer inhabitants than previously assumed. According to the census, 44,501 people lived in Rodgau on 15 May 2022.

In Rodgau, as in the Offenbach district, the population is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. Particularly strong increases, such as in 2040, are related to the planned new development areas - for example Rodgau-West. The resulting influx was also factored into the forecast at certain points.

Settlement structure

Another diagram illustrates the settlement structure and shows the proportion of land used as residential and commercial areas compared to natural areas such as forests and fields.

Circular diagram shows settlement structure with 45% forest, 32% field and meadow, 23% settlement area
