Drainage authorisation

Who should I contact?

Authorisation is granted by the respective city or municipal administration.

The discharge of collected precipitation water directly into a surface water body requires a permit under water law, unless it is a so-called public use. Rainwater infiltration also requires a permit under water law if it cannot be ruled out that the rainwater will be discharged into the groundwater. Further information can be obtained from the competent lower water authority located at the district committee and the magistrate of the district-free cities. This authority is also responsible for issuing a permit under water law.

A connection to the municipal sewerage system may be required on the basis of the municipal statutes. In these cases, the city or municipal administration must be contacted.
