Motor vehicles: inspection and seal stickers

  • Service description

If the registration district of a registered vehicle is changed, the official seal stickers on the previous licence plate are removed by the registration authority of the new registration district. This is done in the course of the new registration. It is not permitted to register the vehicle in the new registration district without the previous licence plates having been removed.

The official licence plates must also be invalidated by the registration office by removing the official seal stickers when the vehicle is taken out of service, re-registered or when the type of licence plate is changed.

    Note:

    • When registering a vehicle that is still registered abroad, the foreign licence plates must be presented.
    • In the event of theft or loss of a licence plate, any remaining licence plate must be presented.
    • If a test or seal sticker becomes unusable or is lost (e.g. in the car wash), you should replace it immediately or have a new sticker affixed to avoid unnecessary trouble.
