Apply for a green licence plate for vehicles and trailers
Service description
Certain vehicles exempt from motor vehicle tax have licence plates with green lettering and a green border on a white background. These include vehicles belonging to non-profit organisations, agricultural and forestry vehicles and certain trailers.
If the requirements for a green licence plate are no longer met, the competent main customs office may impose a vehicle tax. From this point onwards, the green licence plate is invalid and must be changed to black.
Procedure
The application for the allocation of a green licence plate must be submitted to the registration authority in connection with the registration of the vehicle. If your licensing authority requires an application form, you can usually obtain this in advance from the licensing authority or, depending on what the authority offers, download it from the Internet.
Which documents are required?
The same documents that (depending on the transaction) must also be submitted for the registration of a new vehicle, a decommissioned vehicle or when re-registering a vehicle to another owner.
For details see there; for the reservation of a licence plate.
With regard to the desired tax exemption, it is advisable to bring along the relevant notification from the pension office/the corresponding confirmation from the responsible main customs office; for more detailed information, please contact your licensing authority.
