Motor vehicle: Fine dust sticker

  • Service description

There are clean air plans for areas with poor air quality. Clean air plans contain measures to improve air quality. Low emission zones are one possible measure in such clean air plans. Low emission zones reduce particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide pollution. Vehicles with high pollutant emissions are not allowed to drive in low emission zones.

If you want to drive your vehicle in such an environmental zone, you must purchase a fine dust sticker/environmental sticker. The sticker is available in three different colours, each of which is assigned to a pollutant group. The categorisation of your vehicle into one of the pollutant groups is based on the emission code numbers. These can be found in the vehicle documents.

Note: A separate traffic sign indicates the environmental zones. The additional sign shows the colours of the stickers that allow vehicles to drive freely in the specific environmental zone.

  • Procedure

Who should I contact?

The stickers are issued by the registration office of your district or city (main place of residence) as well as by all bodies authorised to carry out exhaust emission tests. In addition to the test centres of the monitoring organisations (e.g. TÜV, Dekra), this also includes many garages.
