ZWO Water Alert: Red – possible water emergency in the district and city of Offenbach

Red alert

Due to persistently high temperatures, drinking water consumption in the city and district of Offenbach has risen dramatically, reaching an all-time high and thus the highest ‘red’ alert level. The water supplier’s (ZWO) pumping capacity is consequently severely overloaded and can no longer meet demand. Should consumption remain this high this weekend (until Sunday), there is a risk of shortages, potentially leading to short-term interruptions to the water supply in the city and district of Offenbach. This also affects Rodgau. Everyone in Rodgau is therefore urgently urged to drastically reduce their water consumption with immediate effect, and particularly this weekend.

What must not be done?

Please refrain from watering gardens, lawns and plants, washing vehicles, patios and courtyards, and refilling swimming pools, fountains and water features. Drinking water should only be used for the most essential purposes: drinking and food preparation, personal hygiene (taking a quick shower instead of a bath), and flushing the toilet (using greywater or a reduced flush where possible).
