Driving licence with limited period of validity Extension
Service description
The driving licence for passenger transport (FzF) is issued for a maximum of five years and can be extended for up to five years at the holder's request.
Please note: If the application is submitted after the expiry date of the vehicle licence, an extension is no longer possible. You must apply for a new licence to drive.

Prerequisites
- Mental and physical aptitude
- Fulfilment of the vision requirements
- Personal reliability
- after the age of 60, additional resilience, orientation performance, concentration performance, attention performance and responsiveness
Which documents are required?
- Official proof of place and date of birth (e.g. identity card or passport)
- current registration certificate, if applicable
- EU/EEA driving licence
- Certificate of good conduct for submission to a public authority (service description in the Hessenfinder)
- Current information from the driving aptitude register
- Proof of physical and mental aptitude
- Proof of fulfilment of the vision requirements
- Proof of resilience, orientation performance, concentration performance, attention performance and responsiveness (if extended beyond the age of 60)
What fees are incurred?
The fee is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).
