The Hessian Equal Opportunities Act (HGIG), which came into force in 1994, forms the basis for the work of the internal women's and equal opportunities officers. The aim of the law is to realise equal opportunities for women and men, to improve the compatibility of family and career for women and men and to eliminate the existing under-representation of women in higher positions in the civil service. 

The area of responsibility is limited to the internal affairs of the city administration and Stadtwerke Rodgau

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the department management in implementing the law
  • Monitoring the implementation of the AGG (prohibition of discrimination on grounds of gender and sexual harassment)
  • Participation in job advertisements and selection procedures
  • Participation in all organisational, personnel and social measures relating to gender equality and work-life balance
  • Confidential assistance and counselling for employees
