    The aim of consumer protection is to protect people in their role as consumers from the harmful or detrimental effects of consumer goods and services.

    Consumer information and advice is provided in Hesse by established consumer protection organisations. In the area of nutrition and consumer education, there are a large number of projects that are carried out by the state government in cooperation with various consumer protection organisations in Hesse. One focus here is on co-operation with schools.

    Consumer protection is usually divided into 2 areas: economic and health-related consumer protection.

Who should I contact?

Advice and consumer information can be found at the Hesse Consumer Advice Centre, the DHB - Netzwerk Haushalt - Landesverband Hessen, in the consumer portal of the state of Hesse and at the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

The respective authorities in the administrative districts and cities are responsible for food monitoring.
