Rodgau relies on a future-proof digital infrastructure. The introduction of fibre optic technology enables citizens and businesses to benefit from fast and reliable internet connections.

What is optical fibre?

Optical fibre is a modern technology for data transmission that uses light pulses to transmit information over long distances quickly and without interference. Compared to conventional copper cables, fibre optics offers:

  • High speeds: Download and upload rates in the gigabit range
  • Low latency: fast response times for online applications
  • Future-proof: high capacity for growing data volumes


How do I get fibre optics to my home?

The company Westconnect GmbH has already started building the fibre optic network. The construction work is being carried out together with the company Libra GmbH.

Pre-marketing has been completed for the fibre optic expansion.

  • All households that have already submitted a property owner's declaration will receive the fibre-optic house connection free of charge - without any further conditions.
  • All other households can also receive a free home connection, but only if they sign a product contract with one of the participating providers.


Who is building the network in Rodgau?

  • Westconnect GmbH is expanding the fibre optic network in Rodgau.
  • The civil engineering work as well as the house inspection and the house connection are carried out by Libra GmbH.
  • There are additional specialist companies for the building cabling in the apartment blocks:
    • Responsible for Weiskirchen and Hainhausen: KAM KABELSERVICE GmbH & Peck Connect
    • Responsible for Jügesheim: Ina Connect GmbH & Peck Connect
    • For Dudenhofen, Nieder-Roden and Rollwald: to be announced & Peck Connect


How are the connections made?

  1. Civil engineering
    • The fibre optic cables are being laid in the street by the company Libra GmbH.
  2. House inspection
    • A technician from Libra GmbH will clarify with you where the pipe is to be inserted into the building.
  3. House connection 
    • The fibre optic cable is laid into the house by the company Libra GmbH.
  4. Building cabling & flat connections 
    • Only for apartment buildings with 3 or more residential units and at least one product contract for fibre optics
      • The specialist companies (KAM KABELSERVICE GmbH in Hainhausen and Weiskirchen/ Ina Connect GmbH in Jügesheim) will clarify with you how the cables will be laid in your house.
  5. Activation
    • Once the network has been completed around 2027 and a product contract for fibre optics has been signed, the line will be activated.
